It’s no secret that reading books is essential for personal growth. But with a huge ever expanding library of self development books where should you start?
I wanted to list out 3 books that were, for me, game changers. I hope you will consider reading at least one of these and I truly hope it has the effect it had on me.
The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
I was introduced to The Secret shortly after my trip to Las Vegas in 2008. Truly I felt like this book found me. It was at a time where my life had no direction and I felt like I had no purpose or meaning. The Secret showed me that my dreams could come true and also how my inherent negativity was a poison and was creating my life which is not what I wanted. After finishing this book I can honestly say my life changed for the better.
The 4 Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich by Timothy Ferriss
One of the first audiobooks I listened to. Tim Ferris flips the conventional career plan (work hard, save, retire at 70) on its head and offers a plethora of valuable information and productivity resources. It was this book that got me thinking that there’s more to live that 5 x 8 hour days and that “we don’t want to be millionaires, what we’re looking for is the millionaire lifestyle.
The Success Principles(TM) – 10th Anniversary Edition: How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be by Jack Canfield
What I really liked about this book was the actionable steps in this book. The Secret definitely requires a level of believing in an almost religious like omnipresence. The Success Principles lays it all out with very actionable easy to take steps and it is very refreshing. He makes you think, take action and it’s steps which YOU can do. Out of a lot of the personal development books I’ve read, this is one of my favorites.
What about you? Are there any books, fiction or non, which you would consider game changes? What impact did they have on your life? I would love to know!
